So on Wednesday, I wrote about the reaction I had after reading a recent Copyblogger post about online marketing mistakes. The post was timely because I’ve been revamping my services (I’m in the midst of it this week) and was struck hard with the idea that where I’ve put my marketing focus to date is still not focused enough.
You know, it’s true. I’ve known it for a while.
Yes, I enjoy working with women, all of my clients right now are women and that excites me. They’re smart, witty, focused, creative, collaborative and just the type of people I desire to partner with. When I decided to refocus and work mainly with women, my client roster started to fill up. Eureka! Was my first reaction and I had a sense I was on the right track.
Yipee for me! New clients, new projects and I still have a steady stream of new clients coming my way. I discovered quickly that narrowing your focus on who you market to helps. Yes, I’m really only focusing on a demographic right now and that’s okay. But if I my desire to see my business skyrocket is to become a reality, which I know it should then I need to get that laser focus and really drill down to what I can do to help solve my desired clients problem.
I’m getting there and I’m finding it an interesting process, so I can only guess what kind of process it has been for all you. Have you really drilled down to determine what your niche is, what problem you solve for your market? Next week, I’ll be ready to share in detail my process and how I came to my niche, but in the meantime I’d love to hear your stories of what’s worked for you and what hasn’t. Please share….
